About the CompetitionThe CBL

The Country Basketball League (CBL) is an open age domestic representative league held across geographical conferences in regional Victoria, usually conducted from October and into the Summer season each year. All regional affiliated associations are invited to enter.

The Country Basketball League was designed to provide an opportunity for regional Associations and athletes to compete against one another in the spirit of town versus town competition — which is a true reflection of Country Sport.

Who can enter? All Basketball Victoria regional affiliated Associations are eligible to nominate to compete in the Country Basketball League. The CBL may also accept nominations from interstate country Associations.

Format

  • True home-and-away basis
  • Each team plays an equal number of home and away games
  • Opening round on the 2nd weekend of October
  • Conference Finals generally held in February

State Finals

Following the Conference Finals weekend, the State (All-Conference) Finals weekend sees the winning team of each conference battle it out to be crowned State Champions. This prestigious event has been reintroduced to the CBL calendar.

Men's & Women's

The CBL features both a Men's and Women's competition, with teams organised into geographic conferences across regional Victoria.

Selection

Teams are made up of players selected through trials held by local country associations. Players are encouraged to attend trials held by their local region (e.g. Warragul Basketball Association).
