The Program

Built to develop the next Warriors

Future Warriors Academy returns for Term 3 with a fresh format. Players from U10 to U16 are grouped into two age blocks and train side by side, learning the offensive and defensive concepts behind the Warriors Style of Play. It's competitive, high-energy, and built to get domestic players ready for the representative pathway.

Who it's for: domestic competition players who are NOT currently in the Country Representative Program (Squad) or VJBL. This is the program that helps you get there.

Two Age Blocks

Find your block

Players are grouped by age so coaching is matched to development stage. Divisions are set by birth year against the 2026 season — boys and girls train together within each block.

Good To Know

Questions, answered

Who is this program for?
Domestic competition players aged U10–U16 who want to sharpen their skills and understanding of representative-level basketball. It's not suitable for complete beginners or players currently in Squad or VJBL programs.
Can my child join if they're in Squad or VJBL?
No — this program is for domestic players only. It's designed to help players develop the skills needed to make Squad or VJBL teams in the future.
Are boys and girls in the same sessions?
Yes. For Term 3, players are grouped by age block rather than gender, so coaching is matched to each player's stage of development. Boys and girls train together within the Younger Block (U10–U12) and the Older Block (U14–U16).
How are the age blocks decided?
By birth year, against the 2026 season. U10 (2017–2018) and U12 (2015–2016) form the Younger Block; U14 (2013–2014) and U16 (2011–2012) form the Older Block.
What time is my child's session?
All sessions are on Wednesdays. The Younger Block (U10–U12) trains 4:30–5:30pm, the Older Block (U14–U16) trains 5:30–6:30pm.
Who will be coaching?
Each block has a lead coach plus assistant coaches. Term 3 lead coaches are Breyton Buysman and Sophie Taylor.
What if I miss a session?
We understand conflicts happen, but we're unable to offer make-up sessions or refunds for missed sessions.
Do I need to buy a uniform?
New participants purchase the reversible training jersey ($55) so we can run proper scrimmages with opposing teams. Returning participants can use their existing jersey.
Can I register if the program is full?
Each block is capped at 20 players (40 across the program). If we reach capacity we'll open a waitlist and let you know if a spot opens up.
What should my child bring?
Basketball shoes, a water bottle and a positive attitude. Reversible jerseys are distributed after registration.
